Tall and slender-green

eyed poplar, shimmering in

summer heat. The wind

through you sounds of one thousand

little hands folding paper.  

I listen and dream

of sitting again with you 

beneath a poplar 

stand. A butterfly splays wings,

takes flight. I remain, longing.
